And if you’re all caught up on Season 2, then you know that Marty was in a pretty precarious situation when we last left the Ozarks—what else is new? Keep reading to find out everything to know Season 3.

When was Ozark Season 3’s release date?

Ozark was approved for a 10-episode third season, which debuted on Netflix on March 27, 2020.

Who is in the Ozark cast?

Ozark stars Bateman as Martin ‘Marty’ Byrde. Bateman is most well-known for his roles in Arrested Development and movies like Horrible Bosses and Juno. Bateman won an Emmy in 2019 for directing an episode of Ozark. “With this type of project, you can’t be over-reliant on one particular element,” Bateman told TIME in 2018. “It’s a world and a storyline that lends itself to many different departments that a director can utilize—it’s not something that is going to win if there are a bunch of jokes in it or win if there are a bunch of cool effects. It can succeed only if every department is doing a tasteful and subtle job.” Laura Linneyplays Marty’s wife, Wendy Byrde. Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner play their children, Charlotte and Jonah, respectively. “This is Jason’s show and we are all just very lucky to be in it, honestly,” Linney told Collider in 2017. “Everyone wants it to be good, and everyone wants it to be good for him. He’s a wonderful director.” Julia Garner plays Ruth Langmore—or Ruthie—a smart and sassy trailer park girl who has grown up in the Ozarks and around crime her whole life. Bateman isn’t the only person who’s won an Emmy for their work on Ozark; Garner took home an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a drama series in 2019. You may recognize Garner from other shows like Dirty John, Modern Love andThe Americans.

How did Ozark season 2 end?

The Season 2 finale episode of Ozark was called “The Gold Coast,” but the tone of the show was hardly as happy as the episode name suggests. In fact, it culminated in murders, twists and the true mark of a finale, an explosion. Cade Langmore (Trevor Long) kills police officer Roy Petty, beating him to death with a tackle box, then chucking his body in the river. At the end of the season, officers find Roy’s car, suggesting they’re close to finding his body. Wendy Byrde sets up Cade, who is shot multiple times in the chest and killed by the cartel. It’s not entirely clear who pulled the trigger, but plausible suspects include Ruth, Wyatt and Marty himself. Frank Cosgrove (John Bedford Lloyd), head of the Kansas City mob, blows up the Byrde Enterprises offices (resulting in the aforementioned explosion) to send Marty a message. This could potentially set the tone for Season 3, with Frank Cosgrove becoming the main antagonist. Ruth is finally free of all her former demons—her dad(s), her uncles and ultimately, family ties. Now that she’s on board with Marty, only time will tell if she remains part of Marty’s dealings or if she’ll have a problem with the Byrdes refusing to leave. Of course, Season 2 also saw the opening of a casino boat under Byrde Enterprises, with Ruth becoming the manager, so it’s possible most of the next season takes place on the boat. Then, there’s the Byrde children. While Jonah seems to be getting more involved in the family biz, Marty encourages Charlotte to run away at the end of Season 2.

Who died in Ozark Season 2?

Season 2 of Ozark saw many casualties, including Roy Petty, Cade Langmore, Pastor Mason Young, Buddy and Jacob Snell. Here’s a brief recap on how each character kicked the bucket last season.

Roy Petty

Petty’s life was ended by none other than Cade Langmore, who bludgeoned Petty to death with his tackle box. Langmore then dumped Petty’s body in the river, but by the end of the season, authorities had found Petty’s car and appeared to be close to unearthing Petty’s body.

Cade Langmore

Petty’s murderer died, too. Langmore seemed to be in a good place after getting half-a-million dollars from Wendy Byrde. On his way out of town, Ozark viewers realized she had double-crossed him and set him up. The cartel gunned Langmore down while he was skipping town.

Pastor Mason Young

Marty Byrde murdered Pastor Mason Young after he threatened to kill Marty’s wife.

Buddy

Buddy kicked it because of natural causes, unlike most of the other characters on this list. Buddy’s heart problems had been a huge part of his story since he was first introduced, and ultimately, his heart problems led to his demise in Season 2.

Jacob Snell

Murdered by his wife, Jacob Snell inexplicably fell to the ground while on a walk with Darlene. As he was dying, she revealed she added cyanide to his coffee. With Jacob now dead, his widow will likely even be more of a wildcard than she ever was before.

Where is Ozark filmed?

Ozark takes place at Lake of the Ozarks. However, most of Ozark is filmed in Atlanta locations around Lake Allatoona and Lake Lanier. Additionally, some scenes are also filmed in Chicago, Illinois, according to the Chicago Tribune. Very few scenes have been filmed where the show is actually set—Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Scenes that were filmed at the Ozarks include the Byrde family’s first sight of the lake at Lover’s Leap, according to Condé Nast Traveller.
