Alana first appeared on Matt James’ season of The Bachelor, but she didn’t last long. The photographer formed an early connection with Matt, but was sent home during Week 2. Basically, audiences didn’t really get to know her back then, which is probably why plenty of Twitter users were left wondering who, exactly, she is. According to her Bachelor bio, Alana once moved to Toronto on a whim and took college courses throughout Europe instead of going to a traditional four-year school. So there’s something!
What happened between Chris and Alana on Bachelor in Paradise?
This is where things get weird. Alana walked in as a special surprise guest at the VIP party on the Sept. 7 episode and Chris immediately made a beeline for her. Jessenia—who was also in attendance at that party—said during a voiceover that she was worried about Alana, who she knew was only interested in Chris. Cue Chris pulling Alana aside and the two of them chatting on a couch. Suddenly, Chris said that he was about to do something he knew he shouldn’t, and he and Alana indulged a solid makeout session. Then Jessenia walked in, looked horrified and ended up crying in a corner at the party. But Alana and Chris moving so fast had plenty of people wondering if these two had met before… and what do you know: Turns out, there’s at least one photo on social media that suggests they’ve hung out before—and so have Jessenia and Chris.

OK, so Chris and Jessenia have also clearly hung out before Paradise. Fellow contestant Tammy Ly has a few Instagram photos to prove it: And Alana and Jessenia also seem to have enjoyed at least a few pre-Paradise hangouts, too, making this whole thing really complicated.
Does Jessenia end up with Ivan?
Let’s answer this question by first asking if Jessenia has a future with Chris. Answer: Nope, it’s over! Jessenia left the VIP party early and pointed out once she was back on the beach that Chris had clearly made his choice. “He’s dancing with her and he talked to her twice,” she said. “Why should I even look for answers if he’s showing me?” To be fair, Jessenia left Ivan Hall for Chris earlier this season, so she kind of did the same thing before. But things didn’t work out for Jessenia and Chris or Chris and Alana. During a conversation with Joe Amabile and Riley Christian after his one-on-one with Alana, Chris tried to say that he instantly felt a connection with Alana that he didn’t feel with Jessenia. But Jessenia and everyone else at the table wasn’t having it. “You made me feel like you were here for me,” Jessenia said at one point, before telling Chris he should leave Paradise. The others agreed. Chris ended up having a conversation with a tearful Alana, telling her that he wanted to leave the show together. Alana wasn’t ready for that level of commitment and decided to leave on her own. Apparently Chris didn’t get the memo, because he also packed his bags and tried to get into Alana’s SUV, only for her to tell him, “This is my car.” And that’s that on Chris and Alana’s 24-hour relationship in Paradise.
