In this edition, we’re highlighting the 19 best West Palm Beach and Palm Beach restaurants for Sunshine State classics like stone crab claws, Key lime pie, over-the-top hot dogs and lots of fresh fish dishes, featuring locally-sourced shrimp and grouper.
Where is Palm Beach?
Located in Southeastern Florida, Palm Beach is a barrier island 65 miles north of Miami, just over the Intercostal Waterway. The “little sister” of West Palm Beach is a tranquil stretch of surf and sand that’s been a longtime playground for the rich and famous, but is drawing a younger (and very hungry) crowd these days. Another reason we love the Palm Beaches? Happy Hour! Most restaurants and bars appreciate this discounted afternoon pastime, as do we, and offer specials that can’t be beat.

Stone Crab Claws at Swifty’s at The Colony Palm Beach
If there’s one iconic Palm Beach meal to try straight off the plane, it’s the stone crab at Swifty’s at The The Colony Hotel. No only is the scene set for Instagram—right off Worth Ave—but the Pink Paradise hotel and trendy poolside restaurant is as historic as they come in these parts. And it’s open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for breakfast, lunch, brunch, pool snacks, social hour and dinner. It’s the colossal Florida stone crab claws that really do it for me though, served with English mustard sauce on the side. Other top contenders for consideration: artichoke vinaigrette, The Darling chicken stack and old-school Swifty’s favorites like Designer Meatloaf and the burger. A rooster of activations such as rum tastings, trivia nights, book reading and acoustic guitar sessions round out the list of reasons to visit.
Steaks & Tableside Manhattans at Angle at Eau Palm Beach
For a true steakhouse dinner, Palm Beach style, look no further than upscale eatery Angle at Eau Palm Beach. Farm-to-elegant-table fare is their motto and they deliver on every level. To start, the seafood tower is a no brainer with Key West shrimp, little neck clams and king crab, but the ravioli with baby beets and house-made ricotta egg yolk pudding is just as enticing. You’ll want to follow that up with the 6-oz filet (or tomahawk for two if you’re feeling ballsy), with a side of foraged mushrooms or Angle lobster mac and cheese. And whatever you do, do not leave without trying master mixologist Josh’s Death in the Afternoon cocktail or a glass of premium bubbly in The Champagne Bar at Angle (open Tuesday to Saturday, 5 p.m. until late).
Fish Tacos & Craft Beers at Breeze Ocean Kitchen at Eau Palm Beach
If you happen to be vacationing at the luxe Eau Palm Beach (or simply popping in for lunch), Breeze Ocean Kitchen is not only oceanfront, but delish. Menu highlights include perfectly executed fish tacos, blackened grouper fish sandwich, fresh catch of the day and conch and corn fritters. There’s even a beer sommelier who can recommend the best local ale to pair with your meal.
Caviar & Rosé at Le Bilboquet Palm Beach
Brunching at Le Bilboquet Palm Beach is tradition, as is ordering caviar and smoked salmon platters and La Cobb Salade du Bilboquet. The NYC mainstay now has locations in the Hamptons and Palm Beach (on Worth Avenue, naturally), but the classics remain the same and the scene always a spirited one.
Sweet Corn Agnolotti & Tuna Crisps at Buccan Palm Beach
Ask any Buccan regulars and they will wax poetic about the sweet corn agnolotti, hot dog panini (!) with sauerkraut, gruyere, mustard and chili, steak tartare, tuna crisps and short rib empanadas. Plus the watermelon martini. Do NOT sleep on that one. And if you’re craving Buccan more than once on your trip, they have the Buccan Sandwich Shop for handheld staples whenever you want ’em.
Key Lime Pie at Palm Beach Grill
If you didn’t eat Key lime pie in Palm Beach, did you even go to Florida? This trademark dessert is lights out at Palm Beach Grill, but by all means, have drinks and snacks first at Honor Bar. The PB institution is intimate (like 12 booths tiny), but a big deal in terms of ambiance, top-notch service and craft cocktails.
Silver-Service Hot Dog at Palm Beach Grill
Also legendary: the Silver-Service Kosher Hot Dog on a homemade poppy seed bun, served with fresh coleslaw and half a deviled egg, because why not? Perhaps the most haute dog of all dogs in Palm Beach, tourists and locals alike come here just to ‘gram it.
Sushi Rolls at LoLa 41 at White Elephant Palm Beach
LoLa 41 Palm Beach at the posh White Elephant hotel is always a good time for people watching and epic sushi rolls in a swanky garden atmosphere. There’s daily Happy Hour from 3 to 5 p.m and a lovely patio out back for al fresco lunches that last all afternoon. In addition to all their top-notch sushi and sashimi, be sure to order the tuna tacos in crispy gyoza shells, caramel chicken wings, Cantonese-style pork pot sticks and maybe a side of frites, with foie gras and togarashi aioli. Over on the breakfast/brunch side of the menu, there’s a Florida lobster Benedict that’s not to be missed.
Pigs in a Blanket at Henry’s Palm Beach at The Breakers
You could easily block off a whole day to eat and drink your way through The Breakers Palm Beach with its 12+ dining options, but Henry’s is most notably the newest of their restaurants and deserves a bite of the following: butter crumb Dover sole, chicken pot pie, Tavern Twin burger and pigs in pretzel dough blanket.
Valrhona Chocolate Layer Cake from Flagler Steak House
When capping off a food tour of The Breakers, end on a sweet note at their flagship, Flagler Steakhouse for a slice of this beauty on the terrace. Designed for comfortable year-round dining, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the golf course and city skyline, which affirm you’re in the heart of Palm Beach.

Even if you’re not staying at the Hilton West Palm Beach (although it’s the perfect family-friendly, affordable choice), you should make it a point to dine at Galley. Argentinian Chef Guillermo Eleicegui hails from Buenos Aires’ Faena Hotel and La Bourgogne and with a pizza oven and wood-fire master grill onsite, it’s no wonder dishes like grilled octopus, shrimp ceviche and steak pintxo with chimichurri take center stage. Plus, the outdoor patio is seriously pretty and their mixologist is top tier, making this a bespoke drinks destination and lively grill house in one.

If you’re living that plant-based life (or just trying it out for the ‘gram), head to vegan chain Planta’s newest WPB outpost. Led by internationally celebrated Chef David Lee and acclaimed restaurateur Steven Salm, you can expect sophisticated interiors, a sustainable menu and really good mojitos.
Empanadas & Rum Punch at Barrio West Palm Beach
Barrio, a covered outdoor experience run by Big Time Restaurant Group, brings diners dishes and drinks inspired by classic Latin neighborhood street food (think: chorizo flatbread, conch fritters, braised beef empanads with sweet pepper aioli and mahi frito with key lime tartar) and a full bar that celebrates craft cocktail elements from tropical destinations. Rum punch for the win!
